37 Golden Jackal

GOLDEN JACKAL

37.

(Canis aureus)

During the period of British rule in the Indian subcontinent, large numbers of British officers found themselves stationed across India. Many of them spent their free time in hunt clubs that used special hounds to pursue jackals. This beautifully done jackal on a mahogany shield is the work of the legendary Indian taxidermy studio of Van Ingen & Van Ingen of Mysore.
