Sexual dichromatism, where male and female birds look different is common in birds. This mount is of a female. Males are much more colorful. Goldeneye nest in tree cavities in the boreal forests of North America. They are sometimes referred to as whistlers by hunters because their wings make a distinctive whistling sound in flight.
