SNOWSHOE HARE

21.

(Lepus americanus)

It has the name “snowshoe” because of its oversized hind feet which allow it to run over deep snow without sinking. To camouflage itself, it turns white in winter. It is extremely fast, with a top speed of 45mph and can cover 10 feet in a single jump. Their ears are smaller than those of most other hares.
