GERMAN SHEPARD
45.
(Canis familiaris)
Deyrolle Taxidermy of Paris was founded in 1831 by well-known entomologist Emile Deyrollle. Still in operation, it has been at its current location since 1881. The shop has been a destination for Parisians since it opened and was frequented by artists Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. If you are ever in Paris, check it out! Look closely at this German Shepard, a Deyrolle mount from 1900, still wearing his original collar and you will see that the top of his nose is completely bald because the owners kept petting him postmortem rubbing the fur off.
