WELS CATFISH

Wels catfish are native to Europe and Western Asia. They can grow to be true giants, reaching over 8 feet in length and weighing as much as 440 pounds! Vintage catfish head mounts, especially large ones, are very rare. I found a large blue catfish head for our collection on eBay and posted about it on Instagram. I used the hashtag #catfishtaxidermy. I was on vacation in Mexico City at the time with fish heads on my mind, when a thought popped into my head. Maybe I could find another head by searching through the other #catfishtaxidermy posts. Instagram has 1 billion monthly active users globally, so surely there would be dozens of such posts, right? Nope! Just one other weirdo in Austin, Texas! Out of a billion monthly users on Instagram only one other person had ever used #catfishtaxidermy! I reached out to him to see if he still owned it. He did and I immediately bought it. It was like Christmas!
